the garland makers
I have the "wishing I was with my siblings" blues, as they are all in India together right now...& as part of my blues I'm sharing with you a piece I just completed about India, which happens to be one of the first evening scenes I've done for a few years now. There is something profoundly beautiful about the hues of blue & purple that appear in the sky between sunset and night, & I thought they would go well with the vivid coral of the ground.
Now if you don't mind, I'm going to go sip some Masala Chai & dream about warmer days...

ReplyDeleteoh my oh my..... breathtaking beyond words. The colours are divine.
ReplyDeleteahh..I can't tell you enough how beautiful this painting is! I can look at it all day...even with such bright colors it is soothing and sweet...it makes me think of the garland makers in Benrares and a little section near the far end of the city next to the river where there were fields of marigolds for garlands...and the flower market in the center of the city... "benares mai meera dil lagta hai." (did i say that right?)
ReplyDeleteAmy is there in India now isn't she! Now I'm wishing I was there as well...I'll sip some chai with you from here...
The red is amazing...love to join you for tea!
ReplyDeleteWishing you spice-filled and warm Indian dreams... this work, with that night sky falling, is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe colors are so beautiful. I would love to sip masala chai..maybe while watching Mistress of Spices...the colors in your painting just remind me of that.

Wow, this is so vibrant and gorgeous! Sorry about yours sibling blues...my 3 siblings and their families went on a trip last year and I didn't join. I felt the blues too!
ReplyDeletemissing you, shirini! but if it's any consolation...along with the mystique of it all there are also loud 'golden arrow shooting kids', exhausting markets, traffic, leaky walls, cheating painters and the odd cow. i love you and hats off to the new addition! b r a v a ! jaja
ReplyDeleteYay! I was wondering where you went, but now I see you've been back since last Monday. Can I just tell you, this painting is so insanely beautiful? And above the photo of that blue tablecloth below? Exquisite.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely stunning - the colors, the spirit, everything. Just fantastically beautiful.
